A fourth place for Denise Green and JAS All That Jazz at EI Horse Trials, their first year out

I'm just home from a week of showing at the Santa Barbara National Amateur show, where Digger and Max and I had a great time!(photo at left-Joan Scanlon is holding Digger on the left.Deborah Scanlon is sitting on Max, the grey on the right.)
It was an amazing week. For this year-end show you could not only ride for individual points, as usual, but also on teams of three to try to earn team points for awards at the end of the week. I met a great girl on the first day of the show (Lacy Stormes) who was also riding in my division, and we joined up to create a team for the week. Well, she has an amazing little 21 year old horse that reminded me so much of Patch in his day, and for the week she ended up division champion, and I was reserve champion on Max, with Digger just a few points behind him.
As a team we were named Jumper Team champions every day of the 5 day competition, and took the overall Jumper Team championship for the week. According to the horse show staff, this was the first time in the 47 year history of this horse show that any team has ever swept the week like that.

Hello Lise, just wanted to take a minute and update you about Roman (Robin's son)  as he is doing exactly what I bred him for!  He's just turned 5 this year.  I have been preparing him to be a Distance program competitor. I had a chance to sell him to a fellow rider as I have several good prospects for distance riding at the moment.  She promptly took him to his first ever competitive trail ride which he not only completed but WON!  I'm so proud of him.  We hope to see him win a medallion in the future as well as perhaps competing in the new ApHC Endurance Championship ride.  He wasn't old enough to have qualified for it this year but we hope to see him entered next year.  Jim Jirkovsky started him under saddle for me and then my grand daughter rode him for conditioning.  (She's only 11 yrs old)  She decided she doesn't want to do long trail rides, just "pleasure" trail rides.  Roman is too good to waste so she's riding a mare that doubles as a broodmare at present.  
    I would like to use Robin again as I'm really pleased with the colt he produced for us.  Just need to figure out which mare!

"I swear, I'm not making this up!!!  Digger WON his first jumper class ever
on Saturday morning, with my trainer Liz Peet on board.  Then I got on to do
his 2nd class, and was just slightly slower (due entirely to my own nerves),
but we were still without faults and fast enough to place 2nd! It was my
first time in a show ring since my knee injury, and I was so nervous that I
basically just hung on and pointed him in the right direction - he took such
good care of me, you'd think he'd been doing it his whole life. Unbelievable!- what
a superstar he's turning into!  Every show we go to, I get compliments on
him, and at least one person asks if he's a warmblood cross.  ;-)  We're
done for the season now, but at the last show we moved him up to the
2'9"divisions (since we've been jumping 3' regularly at home).  He obviously has 
a big enough jump for a lot more!

p.s. he also continues to be the biggest lap dog in the barn - and I
just love the happy expression he has when he's working - I love that calm
eye and those happy ears!  :-)"

From Gary Carkonen:After he turned 6 he mentally grew up and turned in to the sweetest most willing horse anyone could ever ask for.  As well he is brilliant and never forgot one thing he was thought on the ground. He is not interested in playing the pecking order game, he just wants to be friends with everybody and all horses and of course PLAY.  He does it all and quite well.  Reins, cuts, games,loves arena work and loves to jump everything and I probably should be wearing tights instead of C-boy boots but he rides with a bit or just a lead rope instead of a snaffle. 
I moved him for the winter and we left him in a 5’6”high round pen while we had dinner so we would all be present whilst we introduced him to the new herd.  I told John if he didn’t want to stay in the round pen he would jump out of it and Johns response was there is not enough room for any horse to gather enough steam to jump out of a 5’’ 6” round pen.   Well after dinner we went out to do the introductions and Tigger had already taken care of that as he did jump the round pen  & jumped the 5’ fence in to the pasture to meet the other boys and they all are doing quite well.  
 
The picture is of Tigger and Seagra, my Daughter who is 5’11” so Tig is not a small horse. Tig is about 16-1 and 1350 to 1400 in weight.  He just cracks me up as he gets sooooooo exited when he gets Dad to sit on his back as he just loves it and that is a real special thing.  As well he has the heart to give it all to you and when you want it and that to is a real special thing.   The only downfall to Tigger is I have to paint him Orange ( water base) during hunting season as he looks like an Elk.))))))))))
 
Have put two sets of shoes on him to date and for the most part he probably will never need to be shod(less special occasions like the John Wayne trail ride) as he has bullet proof hooves
